Beef Market Update - Has the Cattle Market Finally Bottomed?

by

Anne Dunford

Last week was a brutal week in terms of cattle pricing and the question is starting to loom, what will 2010 bring the business.  The feeding and ranching industry needs some relief from the financial pressure that has been experienced over the last twelve months.  Had it not been for the currency trade gains in 2008, it would of had the same poor financial results.  In the interview I joke with Anne, and ask her “if spring will be happy?”  I have my fingers crossed because this industry deserves better.

Anne predicts when we could see some brighter times based on the cattle that were placed this fall.  Anne discusses the USDA cattle on feed report at the end of the week and whether or not there could be some surprises.    Anne also tells us what she wants for Christmas to ensure a healthier cattle business in 2010.
