Beef Market Update - Anne Dunford

by

truck feeding cattle

Its nice to actually experience some profits in the feeding business. The question is whether this will continue through the spring or fade away and leave us wondering what happened.

With April producing short supplies and barbeque season a month away, the result has been some badly needed profits for the sector.  For the Canadian producer, the realities of the exchange rate is beginning to take affect and is resulting in concerns over the summer situation with supply expected to be strong.  With the cattle business tough comes surprise and just when we least expect something it can happen.  A great example of this could be an increase in US meat demand with a great BBQ season.  This would allow this profit to possibly continue a little while longer.  Lets keep our fingers crossed.

In this segment of the Beef Market Update, Anne Dunford talks about the April supply issues and the issues as we move into the summer.
