Farmers take serious pride in “feeding the world.” Even though farmers take the challenge head on and produce safe food for consumers around the world many people still go hungry.  Fortunately farmers participate in programs like the Canadian Food Grains Bank to try and combat world hunger.

The Canadian Food Grains Bank has the following mission:

Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a partnership of Canadian church-based agencies working to end hunger in developing countries by:

  • increasing and deepening the involvement of Canadians in efforts to end hunger;
  • supporting partnerships and activities to reduce hunger on both an immediate and sustainable basis; and
  • influencing changes in public policies necessary to end hunger.

Farming communities all over Canada have planted Food Grain fields to try and raise commodities or funds to help feed starving mouths.  Our seed farm has participated in the Picture Butte project for many years and it really is a great effort.  All of the seed, land, fertilizer, machinery time is donated by the farmers in the area.

Below are some of the pictures from the Picture Butte Seeding Day a couple weeks ago compliments of the photographer Tony Kok.
