Wheat School: The GFO is Committed to Wheat Research in Ontario

by

Many of you have heard the industry talk about the need to develop research initiatives.  Without research there is no innovation and Canadian agriculture will begin to lose ground to its international competitors.  Across the country provincial and federal government agricultural funding is getting cut which is threatening our ability to compete in the long term.  Now producer organizations must take the lead to combine producer, government and industry funding to ensure research continues.  The Grain Farmers of Ontario are a great example of this leadership in research and innovation.

In this episode of the Wheat School, I talk to Crosby Devitt, Manager of Research and Innovation at the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO).  We discuss why the GFO believes in research, how they determine projects and how the projects are funded.
