Its time to seed winter wheat and there are several different considerations that you need to make in order to make sure you have success this season.  In many ways the steps that you take today are crucial to what your yield results are next August.  Too many people make some crucial mistakes at fall planting which really hampers the ability of the crop to yield.  With more Ontario farmers looking at wheat as a crucial part of the rotation instead of a nonsense filler, the attention being paid to the details of wheat planting are increasing.

In this episode of the Wheat School, Peter Johnson, OMAFRA discusses pre-planting weed control, setting your drill to manage depth and the need for starter fertilizer.  Peter does  a great job of passionately outlining some misnomers and mistakes people make at this time of year.
