Canola School: Fall Versus Spring Application of Fertilizer - Ross McKenzie

by

Canola School logo

At this time of year many canola growers try to figure out if they are going to apply fertilizer in the fall of wait till the spring.  I think that many producers make this decisions based on the price of fertilizer in the fall or the need to reduce spring work. There are some more agronomic considerations that you need to make as well.  Having said that, the way that fertilizer has bounced around in the past few years if you can buy fertilizer at a cheap price in the fall without any storage you may be forced to apply it.

Ross McKenzie is a Research Agronomist with the Lethbridge Research Station and he chatted with me about the spring versus fall debate.
