Bette Jean Crews is Re-Elected for a Third Term as President of the OFA

As most of you know, I am from Western Canada but as I learn more about Ontario agriculture it seems that many of the concerns are the same. There are differences between the east and the west but overall things like income stabilization, risk management and government lobby tend to always come forward first no matter where you are in the country.

Bette Jean Crews was elected last week to her third term as the President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA).  I talked to Bette Jean about some of the OFA’s priorities for Ontario agriculture.  I also asked her about her recent confession that she recognizes that some of the OFA membership is growing frustrated and angry.

Trying to achieve income stability in agriculture is a massive test of patience and endurance for farmers, industry, government and producer organizations.  I have never met Bette Jean Crews but I do know that trying to keep all different commodity groups happy is a distinct challenge for anyone.  In fact the challenge is so large that it forces some people into being disenchanted and bitter.

What do you think about the re-election of Bette Jean Crews to OFA President?

Is the OFA still in touch with your priorities?

Please leave you thoughts below.

  1. Even though many criticize Bette for some of her views I think we have a good person as President. Some people think that she is just an extension of the government but I think that is just crap.
