Agriculture is always looking for ways to gain better exposure in the public eye. Marketing agriculture to consumers is the challenge of the whole industry with the reality of people getting farther from the farm. There are small steps and small wins all the time but sometimes people have a great idea that has the opportunity to impact millions of people at once. Where better to spread the positive message of agriculture and also run some laps at over 150 miles per hour than Nascar? Nascar is the ultimate in marketing based on the loyalty of viewers to the sponsors and the pure popularity of the sport throughout North America.
The people at Furniture Row Racing have stepped up in a big way to connect agriculture and Nascar. Based on the strong belief of the importance of agriculture, Furniture Row will race the Farm American #78 in select races this year. One of the interesting things about this initiative is that the people at Furniture Row are not farmers or from farms. They recognize the value of agriculture as consumers. I am a huge Nascar fan so this was pretty cool to learn more about this initiative and talk some racing with the Furniture Row Racing Team.

With no real connection to Agriculture you are probably asking why Furniture Row is spending millions on a agriculture promoting car program? Watch the video below where Pat Driscoll, Head of PR at Furniture Row Racing and Dakota rancher Troy Hadrick explain the reasons for the Farm American program.

A special treat of getting to spend some time with the people at Furniture Row Racing at the NCBA 2011 convention was the opportunity to meet Reagn Smith, the driver of the #78 Farm American car. Even better was the chance to interview Regan Smith and chat about what it means for him to represent hard working farmers and ranchers and what he thinks of the upcoming Nascar Sprint Cup season.
