Morris Contour 2 Drill Optimizes Trash Management

by

Trash can be a major pain for farmers using independent openers come seeding time, especially if residue isn’t managed properly off the combine at harvest. Straw and other material can accumulate around the drill shank pretty quickly affecting seed depth and placement. If you’re running any drill with independent openers, navigating through trashy stubble can be a pain, and in some cases expensive, if you’re constantly starting and stopping to crawl underneath to manually clean your shanks. If some fields are particularly bad, you may have to run a heavy harrow over your stubble field to help it along.

Morris Industries Contour 2 Drill takes trash clearance issues into consideration with a few tweaks to its original Contour 1 design. Morris’s Chief Operating Officer Don Henry tells us the new model was thoroughly tested in heavier trash environments like Australia to great effect. He says that while the new design doesn’t completely eliminate trash problems, it does offer a significant advantage. I spoke to Don at the Farm Progress show about their new & improved Contour drill.
