Should You Spray Corn or Plant Soybeans First in Ontario this Weekend? - Brady Code, Syngenta

by

With June 10th coming fast and the wet ground pushing plans to the brink, many Ontario farmers are trying to decide whether they should plant soybeans or spray their post emerged corn.  Depending on where you are the weeds in the corn fields are coming fast.  Farmers have been educated to spray their corn at the early stages to maximize the yield of the corn plant.  Many farmers have had to lower their corn acres already and suffering yield loss with what is planted is not a desired outcome.

Having said that farmers want to get the soybeans planted in time and have the best shot at a high yield depending on what the summer weather brings.   For many Ontario farmers this spray or plant question is a very big choice heading into the first weekend in June.

I asked Brady Code, Technical Field Manager with Syngenta about this important decision and what he and his team are recommending to farmers.
