The road to economic recovery in Canada is delicate. Growth has been moderate at best, with events around the world adding to that fragility daily. European countries are dealing with high deficits and attempting to balance budgets under the pressure of a frustrated and angry population. In the U.S., the debt ceiling debate, the inability to balance a budget and the credit rating downgrade have eroded investor confidence in an economy that was once a global leader.

What is the economic outlook for Canada? What does the instability in Europe, Japan and the U.S. mean for our country? I spoke to Glen Hodgson, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the Conference Board of Canada about the state of the Canadian economy, our dollar and what the future holds for both.
