Farmers to Benefit From AGT Durum Plant

by

The announcement of the building of the AGT durum processing plant in the Regina area is welcome news for producers in that area. Strangely enough, it’s also news that’s stirred up some controversy. Some proponents of the single desk call it a fallacy and a ploy, while some on the other side call it an opportunity that would have been missed if the CWB were allowed to continue. Regardless of the political aspects surrounding the announcement, most producers in the area view the it as good news, especially with the end of the Wheat Board monopoly officially tabled and farmers wondering what options will be available to them post CWB.

I spoke to Derek Squair, President of AGRI-TREND Marketing about how his clients feel about the announcement. Derek is based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
