Beef Market Update: WTO Rules in Favor of Canada on COOL

by

The major story on every beef industry radar was last weeks WTO ruling in favour of Canada with regard to the U.S. Country Of Origin Labelling legislation. The resulting effect on the market……meh. The fact is, the entire industry is awaiting the U.S. appeal and the looong drawn out process to begin again. It’s a great boost for the Canadian beef industry, but not affecting and decisive enough to move the markets. Along those same lines, the November Cattle on Feed report came out and produced the same underwhelming results. Nothing out of the ordinary to contradict analysts expectations.

In this episode of the Beef Market Update, RealAgriculture.com talks about the WTO ruling, COOL’s effect on Canada, the U.S. Cattle on Feed Report and the tentative financial situation packers find themselves in.
