Jeff Nielsen Comments on the End of the Single Desk and the Ritz Press Conference

We have talked to Jeff Nielsen several times in the past and he always speaks his mind on the issues at hand in regards to the Canadian Wheat Board. This morning Jeff was at the press conference with Minister Ritz. The press conference had a very celebratory element which really stems from the hard work many people have put into this effort.

I spoke to Jeff as he travelled back to his farm in Olds with Steven Vandervalk and Brian Otto.

I asked Jeff the following:

  • what was it like to be at the press conference?
  • what does marketing choice mean for his farm?
  • why is marketing choice so important to western Canadian farmers?
  • does he feel vindicated based on this weeks result?
