John Deere Focuses on Technology in the Cab to Increase Farm Productivity

Technology in the cab has become a major area of focus for all machinery companies.  Trying to tie all of the farming stages into a data / information platform to allow farmers to make better decisions is a major focus of John Deere.

The area of variable rate technologies has seen its star rise as a result. Any technology that can help a farmer to increase production and lower input costs is a welcome addition to any producers toolbox. Putting your inputs under scrutiny is a necessity if you want to increase its profitability. To do that you need a system to collect and analyze farm data with respect to your use of those inputs.

Jerry Roell is Director for John Deere FarmSight. They are working on integrated technologies to help farmers get the most out of their machinery. I spoke with Jerry about the increased need for technology and efficiency in producing food for a growing population.

Its seems said that a company like Deere is just starting to think this way when other manufactures have been doing this for over the last 15 years. Nice to see that Deere is following the others again.
