RealAgriculture.com Top Ten Videos of 2011

by

Here we are again at the end of another year. It’s been a great year at RealAgriculture.com. Our YouTube channel has had over 150,000 views this year and our website traffic has grown dramatically. We’ve met some great people and covered some fascinating stories. We’ve also come together in some great new partnerships to launch some brand new segments, and will continue to bring you fresh, new content in the coming year. We’ve grown considerably thanks to you and we look forward to bringing you more in 2012.

Looking back at 2011, we witnessed some historic events, some devastating natural disasters, some political upheaval, some tragedy, some triumph and some major technological advances. Every one of these things took place in agriculture this year.

With all of that happening in the 2011 calendar year, we thought it would be a fitting time to see our top ten viewed videos of 2011, and see just what interested you this year starting from 10 and moving to a very surprising number 1.

Our NUMBER 10 most viewed video of 2011 is focused on in-field trash management. Don Henry of Morris Industries gave us a look at the C2 Contour drill and it’s improved trash management design. We talked to Don at the 2011 Western Farm Progress Show in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Our NUMBER 9 most viewed for 2011 offers advice form Deputter Publishing’s John DePutter. John gives Wheat School viewers 7 steps to help them analyze the wheat market, advice that will come in very handy in 2012.

Our NUMBER 8 video lands in the “new and innovative products” category. At NCBA 2011 we got a first hand look at an incredibly cool cattle handling system called the Turret gate.

The NUMBER 7 most watched video of 2011 takes us back to the equipment category. Farmers showed a real interest in the benefits a grain cart can provide at harvest time. Unverferth’s Shawn Berry gives RealAgriculture.com a tour of the Brent Grain Cart.

Our NUMBER 6 video stirred up a little bit of controversy. Dairy Farmer and Ontario Farmer columnist Ian Cumming talked to us about why he moved his dairy to the United States and why he thinks the current supply managed system needs to be done away with.

The NUMBER 5 video on our list took the organic certification process and the entire organic industry to task. Mischa Popoff spoke to us about the flaws within the certification process, the enforcement of the regulations and what he feels is the fallacy of the “organic” label.

The NUMBER 4 video on the list shows that we all like “cool” stuff. International’s Harley Davidson Lonestar Edition truck is exactly that. It’s no surprise this video cracked the top 5. This truck is gorgeous and believe it or not, you can use it on the farm.

NUMBER 3 on our top ten list had Alberta farmers very concerned about their property rights. Lawyer Keith Wilson walked us through the very controversial implications of the initial draft of Bill 36, The Land Stewardship Act.

Our NUMBER 2 video revealed the existence of a lot of “closet cowboys” out there. Maybe video number 3 had Albertans running to suit up. Whatever the case, a lot of people wanted to know what to take into consideration when buying a cowboy hat.

With all the history and controversy in 2011, all the politics and the wrangling that went on, all of the important things that happened in 2011 it’s important to remember that farmers are …farmers. So may I present to you, our NUMBER ONE video of 2011:

” Considerations when Buying a Liquid Manure Spreader (Honey Wagon)”(Insert your comments here)
