Tiffin 2012 - Dr. David Hughes - A Glorious Future For the Global Meat Market?

by

There is the assumption that in general, because the world population is increasing, the demand for meat, in particular beef, will naturally grow and expand. That generalization may make sense from a North American perspective, but eating habits here aren’t eating habits everywhere and any growth in the industry has to take place in export markets. That may seem obvious, but it’s not just what we eat that comes into play, but how much we eat and what’s central to our meals that will spell out the future for beef production here.

There are a number of factors that come into play on top of eating habits like price and availability as well that will determine the beef industries future. Dr. David Hughes spoke at this years Tiffin Conference about the future of the meat industry. I spoke with him there.
