Canadian Beef Trade Relations Lightning Round - John Masswohl

The current beef-trade relationship between the U.S. and Canada is the best it’s been in a long time. That’s good. We do a lot of business with the U.S. and from a geographical perspective, there is a “convenience factor” that will always keep that relationship somewhat open no matter the issue. However, even with that closeness, almost all experts agree that the future growth of the Canadian beef industry lies in other markets. That puts a great deal of importance on our relationships with those foreign markets.

John Masswohl is the Director of Government and International Relations for the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association. He is acutely aware of the state of those trading relationships. I spoke to him at this years NCBA conference and asked him to summarize Canada’s current trade relationship with a number of different countries in a fast lighting round.
