POLL: Should the Canadian Government Allow Viterra to Be Sold to Foreign Interests

by

With rumors swirling that Viterra is potentially going to be sold to non-Canadian entity like Glencore or ADM, many Canadians are speculating that the Federal Government might intervene in the deal.  This would be similar to the Potash Corp sale which was kibosh-ed by Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Although the mainstream media is speculating that the government might get involved, most of the Grain trade insiders we have spoke to allude to the fact Viterra is an above ground player that would not be defined as a Canadian strategic asset by most Canadians. The Potash Corp deal was one that involved complex resource transfer payments and access to the natural resources of Saskatchewan.

Let us know what you think in the poll above if you think the government needs to intervene in the sale of Viterra if its sold to a foreign company.
