RealAgriculture.com growing, hires new Editor
Veteran ag journalist Lyndsey Smith will manage content across all platforms and channels at RealAgriculture.com
Picture Butte, AB – April 30, 2012 – A year-over-year doubling of online traffic at RealAgriculture.com has enabled the company to hire one of the country’s top ag journalists to manage content creation and planning.
Lyndsey Smith, formerly Editor of one of the largest ag publications in Western Canada, will set up a RealAgriculture.com news bureau in Winnipeg. She will also develop and manage the content for all the platforms and channels at RealAgriculture.com.

“Lyndsey is one of the premier ag journalists and she brings energy and a deep knowledge of agriculture markets across Canada,” says Shaun Haney, founder of RealAgriculture.com. “She’s proven she can build a detailed editorial plan and manage contributors. But of course she’ll also be using her writing skills and doing what she loves – talking to producers on-farm with a notepad and video camera in hand.”
The RealAgriculture.com business has doubled over the past year and managing this exponential growth is demanding. The web site and mobile app platforms now include video, blogs, market and weather updates and articles. The channels include the corn, canola, pulse, soybean and wheat schools, and livestock, machinery, markets and other topic-specific pages. Haney will keep a hand in editorial decision-making as well as driving business development.
Smith is heading back home to Manitoba after a decade working in ag journalism in Winnipeg, Ottawa, and most recently, Regina. She was born and raised on a mixed farm in southeastern Manitoba and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a major in crop production.

The company currently has two contract employees contributing stories – one based in Eastern Canada and one in the West. By fall, the company plans on having six contributors spread across the country. RealAgriculture.com is focused on the issues that impact agriculture. Since 2008, the site has delivered to producers the opinions on issues so that they get not only the news but the insight into what the news means to their business. The company’s head office is in Picture Butte, Alberta with news bureaus in Guelph, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
