Monsanto Moves to In the Bag Pricing For TUAs

by

This week Monsanto announced they are finally going to make the TUA and canola seed purchase one transaction.  According to the press release, Monsanto stated that overwhelmingly growers provided feedback that canola TUA’s should be handled no differently than other crops like corn, soybeans and wheat.

It is surprising how long it has taken to get to this point.  Having a fee that is separate from the actual purchase of the seed only created confusion and complications for all stakeholders at times.  When you buy a new 60″ inch Samsung you don’t have to pay a separate invoice later from the Samsung patent and intellectual property department.  Why should canola seed be any different?

The technology is on the seed and therefore the payment for that technology should just be apart of the seed purchase.
