by

We’ve talked a lot about the effect of the extreme hot and dry weather on Ontario corn and soybean producers, but forage crops have taken a huge hit as well. That damage has been softened a bit lately by the effects of much needed rains, but it also leaves producers in a spot where they have to do some forward thinking as to when is best cut that hay.

Cutting an already beat up crop at that stage will have a cumulative effect on next years crop. RealAgriculture talked to Peter about what options farmers have to get the forage they need and avoid damaging next year’s crop.
