Wins Gold at Canadian Farm Writers’ Conference

Mature corn on the CFWF south tour, Lyndsey Smith, 2012’s Gold Award for best website, 2012

Each year, the Canadian Farm Writers’ Federation holds an annual conference that brings together over 100 agriculture journalists to offer an up close and personal look at agriculture. The conference is held in a different province each year in order to highlight many different aspects of food, feed and fuel production in the country.

This year’s conference was held in Lyndsey Smith’s hometown of Winnipeg, Man., September 20 to 22. Tours took ag journalists from across Canada north of the city to learn all about cat tails, wetlands, flooding issues and more, and south to showcase the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre, the National Centre for Livestock and the Environment and a progressive, integrated farm.

The conference caps off with an awards banquet, and this year, Shaun Haney and his team at were recognized as the top agriculture-based website. Lyndsey Smith was on hand to accept the award on his behalf.

Congratulations, Shaun!
