Why Should I Buy? The Canola Seed Edition

Ah, October — when farmers’ thoughts turn to fall field work, turkey dinners and canola seed.  2012 was a tough year for the oilseed, there’s no doubt, but a difficult growing season can really highlight the strengths and weaknesses in your canola seed genetics. While some will stick with the tried and true, others are keen to try out something new or have a rotation plan in place and are looking for input into their buying decision.

With that in mind, RealAgriculture.com put together a Why Should I Buy? feature on canola seed. Each company was given 2 minutes to boast about their brand of canola seed and why you should buy it. See below for each company’s plug for why you should consider Nexera, Canterra Seeds and Dekalb varieties for 2013.

  1. Great videos but not one show casing DuPont Pioneer’s canola seed. In particular the Protector varieties, with resistance against sclerotinia.

  2. Dekalb needs to cover the price loss on green seed. Problems two of the last three years. Need to acknowledge they have a problem and quit blaming farmers for bad agronomist practices
