Strong Dollar, Stable Interest Rates for 2013

Todd Hirsch, ATB financial senior economist, spoke at the Canfax Cattle Market Forum. The outlook he provided was one of cautious optimism mixed with a little bit of wait and see. The cautious optimism stems from the overall stability of the Canadian economy and the growth in provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan. The wait and see part of the message was tied to the international picture in Europe, Asia and most importantly, China. The important question being, “What shape is the Chinese economy in?” The answer to that question has the potential to impact producers in a lot of different ways. We asked Todd a number of questions about what producers can expect to see looking ahead to 2013.
