In this video, filmed at Farm Tech 2013, Patrick Fabian explains how farmers in his area of Alberta are making use of this multipurpose crop.
Fabian, a seed grower from Tilley, Alta., describes how this cover crop breaks up hardpan, pulls up nutrients from deep within the soil profile and makes an excellent grazing option. In this video, he also reveals who eats these things (hint: it’s not just livestock) and offers his tips on seeding dates and rates.
