How Much Can Sectional Control Save You on Input Costs?

by

Investing in a sectional control option on a new seeder isn’t an inexpensive proposition, however, you may change your perception of the true cost once you see just how much it can save you. Chris Morson, with Seed Hawk, took Shaun Haney on a tour of Seed Hawk’s software program that incorporates Google Earth images to estimate the current overlap of inputs in a field and places a dollar value on the wasted inputs. What’s more, farmers can very quickly see which direction of travel creates the least amount of overlap, and see at a glance the number of years it will take to pay for sectional control or the entire seeder set up (hint: it’s not long!).

In this video taken at Crop Week 2013, Morson walks you step by step through Seed Hawk’s software program and demonstrates how the company comes up with the estimates. The numbers, even when scaled back to be sure, are striking.
