Switch from Spraying to Fertilizing in a Snap with the Miller Nitrogen Injection Toolbar

by

Fertilizer management, and especially nitrogen management, can be a bit of an art form when it comes to corn planting. Not only is it sometimes difficult to get all the N down at planting, but using split applications of nitrogen can also just be good risk management. Going in later in the growing season means you can feed a good looking crop or choose to leave rates alone should the economics not play out. But corn is a tall crop, and nitrogen is prone to several types of losses. Miller has a developed an injection toolbar as an answer to these issues.

Shaun Haney spoke with Tim Criddle, with Miller, at the National Farm Machinery Show held last month, about Miller’s Nitro nitrogen injection toolbar. In this video, Criddle explains the quick attach feature of the toolbar that allows farmers to switch from the sprayer to the fertilizer set up in about half an hour. He also runs through how this injection toolbar can help mitigate some of the risk to losing nitrogen to volatilization and leaching.
