RealAgriculture.com Expands Team, Hires Saskatchewan Field Editor
Picture Butte, Alta. — April 19, 2013 — Incredible traffic momentum, new features to the site and a significant distribution agreement with an online classified site has prompted RealAgriculture.com to once again expand its employee base.
Shaun Haney and his team are pleased to announce that Debra Murphy, a cattle and grain farmer, writer, photographer and inspiring young leader, from Altario, Alta., has accepted the role of Saskatchewan Field Editor with RealAgriculture.com, effective May 1, 2013. Murphy will be based as Saskatoon, Sask.
“Debra is a talented photographer and writer, who is just as comfortable doctoring calves as she is tackling big issues like the role of GMOs in our production systems and women’s leadership in agriculture,” says Shaun Haney, founder of RealAgriculture.com.
“Our brand is built on our knowledge of real-life agriculture and conveying it all in an informative, entertaining manner. We get our hands dirty and root out the real-world stories that help farmers become more efficient and better operators. Debra’s boots-on-the-ground experience and natural curiosity of all things farming fits perfectly with what we’re trying to achieve,” says Haney.
After graduating from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Agriculture in 2010, Debra participated in a six-month volunteer exchange to Nova Scotia and Indonesia. She has spent the last two years running the family grain farm and cow/calf operation with her mother, where she focuses on holistic management of her land and livestock. Murphy is actively involved with the Cattlemen’s Young Leaders Development program, and will continue to speak on the role of social media in agriculture at various conferences.
RealAgriculture.com is now based in Picture Butte, Alta., Saskatoon, Sask., Winnipeg, Man., Guelph, Ont., and Kansas City, MO.
