Wet Weather Stalling Out Plant '13

by

Last week’s ice storm most certainly didn’t help to get planting season going. Worse still was the two days of rain prior to the storm. A small glimmer of warmer weather earlier this week has faded to more rain for much of the Ontario farming heartland. While there are certainly some tactics to planting in wetter conditions, it’s not dire as of yet. There is still time for the weather to turn around for the better.

In this video, RealAgriculture.com editor, Lyndsey Smith, talks with John Greig, a familiar name for many in the Ontario’s farming community and now with 31st Line Strategic Communications. Greig recaps how the wet weather and ice storm have impacted the planting season, how much more prepared farmers were for riding out the power failures from this storm and offers an update on planting conditions for his area.
