Soybean School: Ideal Staging & Tank-Mix Options to Control Resistant Giant Ragweed

by

The advent of glyphosate resistant weeds has and will continue to complicate pre-plant weed removal. Farmers need to match herbicide resistance management and control options with targeted weed species to ensure not only an effective kill, but also to avoid limiting control options later.

Glyphosate-resistant giant ragweed has been confirmed in Ontario, and farmers set to plant soybeans need to be mindful of the pre-plant options and lack of in-crop options for this nasty weed.

In this Soybean School episode, Mike Cowbrough, weed management lead with OMAFRA, explains what control options farmers have, including being aware of multi-mode of action resistance, and he discusses why in-crop removal is too late. Cowbrough also walks us through early identification and the optimum staging of the weed for control.
