SaskMade Marketplace Links Local Products to the West & the World

by

For food product businesses, marketing and distribution is a major cost and time commitment, but it’s a necessary element of success. For small-scale or start-up businesses, letting the world know what you have to offer can be especially difficult. Sask Made Marketplace is working to help bridge the gap between consumers and small-scale Saskatchewan-based food product businesses.

Combining both a bricks and mortar and virtual full-service store front (www.saskmade.ca), April Nichol says that Saskatoon-based Sask Made Marketplace is a key component of linking the local food movement to consumers keen to try food from their own backyards. In the interview above, Nichol notes what products are available through the business, the buzz around products from CBC’s Dragon’s Den and how the company is using Canada’s Farm Progress Show to introduce several of their products to an international marketplace.
