Maximizing forage acre production may be an easy concept to work on in the office, but making decisions in the field isn’t always that straightforward. How do you know whether or not a pasture needs some rejuvenation versus renovation? What factors play a role in getting the most out of existing acres, and what are some management strategies to do so?

In this episode of Beef Research School, we talk to Paul Jefferson of Western Beef Development Centre about assessing pasture condition, and how to decide whether rejuvenation or reseeding is required. Jefferson offers his tips on sod-seeding alfalfa, using rotational grazing to bump production and shares some tips on ideal timing of seeding forages.
