Five Nations Beef Alliance Hopeful for Expansion

by

The Five Nations Beef Alliance (FNBA) met in Australia for their annual conference. Tours and introductions began in Brisbane, then gradually migrated towards Cairns, where the conference concluded.

Some of the topics discussed at the FNBA meetings, included discussions around: the letter of support for a comprehensive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, Country of Origin Labelling, consumer preferences, the Young Ranchers program, and expansion of the organization.

“We’re looking at the opportunity to expand the alliance, specifically in the area of South American beef countries,” said Forrest Roberts, chief executive officer of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. “We could look at a Five Nations Beef Alliance over the course of the next few years becoming, perhaps, a Ten Nations Beef Alliance.”

In this interview, Roberts expands on the direction of the FNBA, its core principles, where it derives most of its funding and its potential for growth.

The 2014 Five Nations Beef Alliance Conference is to be held in the United States.
