New Hollands's P2080 Disc Drill Focuses on Longevity to Minimize Downtime

by

Whether you’re planting beans or wheat, depth control and seed placement are key settings on the drill to establish an ideal plant stand. With that in mind, precise depth consistency, ideal flotation and seedbed moisture conservation are all features on the P2080 disc drill, featured at this year’s Farm Progress Show.

RealAgriculture.com’s Bernard Tobin caught up with Trevor Rempel, of New Holland, at the 2013 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, to talk disc drills. In the video below, Rempel highlights the parallel linkage row unit exclusive to the New Holland P2080, a legacy of the drill’s Flexi-Coil lineage.

Rempel walks us through the features of this drill, from the durable, parallel linkage row unit, to the quick and easy depth setting and on to the packing set up. He adds that when the drill was designed, engineers were tasked with making all those moving parts last longer. What’s more, the bearings, bushings and scrapers all had to be accessible and relatively quick to change out to reduce downtime in the critical spring season.
