It’s an unfortunate truth, but most dairy farmers are likely to come across a a few tough to explain instances of cows that aren’t do well. A cow that’s dropping in weight and production, but eating well may be a head-scratcher of a case until the vet arrives and confirms that the cow is suffering from Johne’s disease. Johne’s is sneaky and serious โ cows often show no symptoms even while they spread the disease.

Ph. D. candidate at the University of Guelph’s department of population medicine, Steven Roche, recently presented a unique white board video tutorial on the topic of Johne’s disease detection, spread and management in dairy herds. His goal is to get this vivid tool into the hands of as many dairy farmers as possible, so we’re sharing it here. If you’ve got cattle, it’s well worth the watch.
