by

Dr. Helen Thompson, SyngentaFor the last 20 years, Dr. Helen Thompson has worked on the research side of the agricultural industry with Britain’s Food and Environment Research Agency (FERA). She recently left FERA to start work with Syngenta, a move that has caused a bit of a stir in the agriculture industry there. But, controversy or not, Thompson is an expert on pesticide interaction with the environment and the insects in it, and her insight into bee health both in Europe and in North America is invaluable.

Thompson’s last comments are perhaps the most profound. Near the end of this SoundCloud interview (click here to hear it if you cannot see the player below), she notes that farmers play a significant role maintaining access to pesticides, as their stewardship of the products is a key component of safe use.
