Corn School: Strategies for Driving Corn Yields Up, Up, Up!

by

No two farmers manage their corn crop the same way, yet can achieve top yields. This is great news, because it means that no matter what your goals are for the farm, from decreasing tillage, to using more cover crops, there’s a way to produce more corn per acre. That’s one of the take-home messages from three years of trialing through the Advantage Acre program with PRIDE Seeds.

Ken Currah, market agronomist with PRIDE Seeds, give us the low-down on the diverse management applied by the farmers involved in the Advantage Acre program in this interview with RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin. Currah relates what he’s learned in the last three growing seasons about nitrogen management and plant populations, and shares how farmers have discovered new ways to coax more yield out of very diverse land bases. He and Bern also discuss what the next phase of pushing yield might look like on the farm.
