Agronomy Geeks Ontario — Ep. 7: All You Need to Know About Using Fluency

by

As Ontario farmers head to the field to plant corn and soybeans, they’ll get their first opportunity to use Fluency Agent, the new Bayer CropScience seed lubricant replacing talc and graphite.

Over the past winter there’s been much discussion in agriculture about the health of bees and other pollinators. As a means of integrating as many best management practices as possible into corn and soybean production, the Pest Management Regulatory Agency is requiring all farmers to use Fluency when planting corn and soy crops, if seed has been treated with a neonicotinoid seed treatment. Fluency Agent is new wax-based seed lubricant product designed to help farmers reduce drift risks associated with using planters.

In this episode of the Agronomy Geeks Ontario podcast, Bernard Tobin and Bayer CropScience row crop portfolio manager Chris Turcot talk about key facts farmers need to know about Fluency Agent before heading to the field, some tips for proper distribution at planting and address confusion surrounding use of the product.
