Viterra Announces New High Throughput Elevator Build at Kindersley

by

Viterra announced today its intention to build a new high throughput grain elevator at Kindersley, Sask. The facility will have a storage capacity of 34,000 metrics tonnes and a 108 railcar spot.

Kyle Jeworski, Viterra’s President and CEO for North America said in a press release, “Viterra has a long history of serving farm customers in the Kindersley area, and we are pleased to build on this relationship through a new state of the art facility.”

This new elevator announcement is in addition to the $20 million Viterra is spending to upgrade four of its Saskatchewan grain terminals at White Star, Humboldt, Waldron and Ituna The company also recently completed similar expansions at Gull Lake and Fairlight. In Alberta, Viterra has announced it is spending over $34 million through an expansion and upgrade to its facility in Grassy Lake, as well as building a high throughput terminal in Grimshaw.

Could this mark a move to expanded capacity of the elevator system on the Prairies? This announcement comes hot on the heels of CWB’s announcement of its first “bricks and mortar” build of a new high throughput facility at Bloom, Manitoba, just west of Portage la Prairie.
