Safety Concerns With Equipment? Tell the Manufacturer

Farmers now have a chance to tell equipment manufacturers how they can make their machines safer.

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) has created an online form where producers can share their safety concerns about equipment made within the last five years.

“We decided to develop this online tool after routinely receiving calls from producers who were frustrated that their concerns weren’t being heard,” says Glen Blahey, Agricultural Health and Safety Specialist for CASA.

Each concern will be reviewed by CASA and then forwarded to the appropriate manufacturer, or if it’s a wider issue,  it will be directed to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

Blahey notes the tool is not meant to hurt the reputation of any specific manufacturer or individual. It is also not intended to address labour or employee safety situations that are before the courts or related to financial transactions.
