At up to 10.5mph planting speed, the Tempo planter from Vaderstad will certainly get the job done in a hurry. The unique seed meter operates through a system of checks and balances to eliminate double seeding, while working quickly enough to keep up to the incredible ground speeds.

The seed hopper, fertilizer hopper and micro-granulate boxes allow producers to use only one pass in seeding. The fertilizer hopper is centrally placed for easy filling and the micro-granulate boxes hold up to 17 litres of fertilizer or pesticide for seed-row placement. The seed hoppers have a 70 litre holding capacity, meaning, according to Vaderstad, they can cover up to 50 acres without refilling.
The Tempo planter is now available in 6 and 8-row spacing, with a 16-row coming soon. At 6-rows, the planter requires roughly 70-100HP, while the 8-row spacing requires 90-125HP.

In this video, Gustav Nilsson, area sales manager for Vaderstad, takes us through Vaderstad’s acquisition of Seed Hawk and the Tempo planter. Nilsson describes some of the key features of the unit, expanding on the fan (which can be PTO or hydraulically-driven), the row units, the metering system, the parallel (grease-free) linkages, the width ranges of the Tempo planter and more.
