Nuffield Canada has announced the recipients of its scholarships for 2015.
Three individuals will receive $15,000 to study a specific agricultural issue while traveling internationally for a minimum of 10 weeks.
The 2015 scholarship recipients are Becky Parker of Picton, Ontario, Greg Donald of Kensington, PEI and Colin Hudon of Rosser, Manitoba. Starting in February 2015, they will be studying agricultural education, long-term strategies for the potato industry and farmland ownership models, respectively.
Meet the 2015 Nuffield Canada scholars:
Becky Parker, Picton, Ontario
Becky lives with her husband in Prince Edward County, Ontario but was raised as the seventh generation on a mixed livestock farm near Guelph. After attending the University of Guelph for a Bachelor of Applied Science, she then pursued a teaching degree. In 2012 Becky received her Masters of Education, where her research focused on experiential education to teach about food, agriculture and the environment.
She combines her passion for agriculture and her training in education in her position as Project and Partnership Manager with Ontario Agri-Food Education Inc.
During her Nuffield studies, Becky will research models of agriculture career education and the collaborative relationships between industry groups, youth development organizations and the formal school system.

Greg Donald, Kensington, PEI
Greg is the General Manager of the PEI Potato Board. With a BSc. degree in Agriculture and an MBA, Greg has over twenty years of experience in the potato industry, including five years with McCain Foods and 14+ years in the agricultural crop input business in Atlantic Canada and Maine with the Cavendish group.
Greg, his wife Becky along with their daughter Abby and son Jack live in Margate, PEI. Greg enjoys family activities, boating, outdoor activities and travelling.
Greg’s Nuffield project will investigate strategic plans implemented by potato industries in other countries in order to gain a greater knowledge of their long term critical success factors. He also plans to investigate other (non-potato) agricultural industry associations to gain knowledge and insight that could have application and benefit to the PEI and Canadian potato industry.

Colin Hudon, Rosser, Manitoba
Colin Hudon, along with his wife and 3 young daughters own and operate F&F Hudon Farms Ltd. From 2002-2012, the operation was located near McAuley, MB and consisted of grains, oilseeds, and a cow-calf operation. In 2012 the McAuley assets were sold and the Hudon family relocated to Rosser, MB where they continue to operate a small grains and oilseeds farm.
Colin is also the managing partner of Strategic Agricultural Management Co. which provides a full suite of services for client looking to invest in farmland and agribusinesses.
Colin’s Nuffield topic will be: The Business of Farming versus the Business of Farmland Ownership He will be looking at the evolution of farmland ownership and farm business models around the world with the intent of helping Canadian producers capture opportunities and negate threats.
