Fields Needed for Manitoba Clubroot Monitoring Program

by

A joint initiative of the Manitoba Canola Growers Association and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development is working to map the incidence of clubroot spores in Manitoba.

With funding through the federal government’s Growing Forward 2’s Growing Actions program, the Pest Surveillance Initiative (PSI)  is working to map clubroot incidence on a township-range basis.

If you are interested in having your canola fields sampled for this project, please contact PSI at [email protected].  When sending your email please provide the legal land descriptions that had canola in 2014, so that it may be cross-reference to the township-ranges already sampled. More than 250 township-range combinations have already been sampled through the Manitoba Canola Disease Survey but 650 other samples are needed to be sure all the agricultural areas of Manitoba.Farmers will receive the results from their fields directly from PSI.

All individual results —either positive for clubroot spores or negative for clubroot spores — will be kept confidential.  Township-range level information, however, will be used to generate a map showing the presence/absence of clubroot.

Check the up to date list of township-ranges needed for this sampling project.
