Dairy Farmers of Canada has announced the appointment of Caroline Emond as the agency’s new executive director.
Emond is a lawyer and lobbyist with over 20 years of experience in political and trade files in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. She worked for DFC from 1998 to 2006 as Assistant Director, International Trade and as Permanent Representative for Canada’s supply management agencies (SM5) at the World Trade Organization in Geneva.
“I am very proud to join an organization that demonstrates leadership and commitment to a modern, caring, responsible sector that brings a major contribution to the Canadian economy,” she said in a news release from DFC. “I know there are many challenges ahead, but I am confident that together, we will ensure a prosperous and stable future for the Canadian dairy industry.”
Emond replaces Richard Doyle, who retired at the end of August after 38 years with DFC.
Her appointment is effective January 19th, 2015.
