Get Your Learning On — Workshops Help You Move the Farm Business Forward

by

Your farm is your business and your career, and just like any other line of work, professional development is important. How do you make sure your farm is running at its most profitable? How do you get up-to-speed on rules and regulations? How to do you keep track of where your farm is at?

The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) is hosting a series of workshops this winter tackling everything from farm profitability, to biosecurity, traceability, food safety and more.

Held across the province, Margaret May, regional program lead with OSCIA, wants farmers to know that these workshops aren’t only for those applying for GF2 funding cost-share projects. “These are really valuable workshops for the farm business, regardless of whether you’ve got a cost-share project in the mix or not,” May says. In the interview below, May outlines how the workshops work, where to find the nearest one, and how your farm business can benefit.

May also wants farmers to know that if one of the already scheduled events won’t work for your schedule or is too much gravel to travel, get a group together and OSCIA will bring the workshop to you. “We’ll host it — you just need to find us the bodies to fill the seats!” she says.

A full description of the workshops can be found here: 2014 Workshop Descriptions OSCIA.
