Definite BS: Cards Against Humanity Sells 30 000 Cow Pies

by

Imagine selling 30 000 individual cow pies (within thirty minutes of going live). That’s what Cards Against Humanity was up to on Black Friday.

The boxes, containing pasteurized bull feces branded as the company’s best and only deal of the year, were priced at $6.00, and though CAH is known for its love of outlandish pranks and dark humour, these could not have been more straightforward.

Yet, many purchasers were angry and disappointed by what appeared in the mail. Others asked to cancel their orders. One consumer went so far as to say the advertisements were misleading and unfair. How could a company actually sell manure in a fancy gift box? CAH’s game co-creator, Max Temkin, had little sympathy.

But, why would a company sell Texan cow crap?

“We all really hate Black Friday, it’s just kind of a horrible day,” Temkin told Time. “It comes after this day where you’re supposed to be thankful for what you have, and then it’s just this whole huge media spectacle of people fighting each other to save $50 on a TV.”

The  company made $0.20 per pie, with the proceeds going to anti-poverty organization Heifer International.
