Richardson International Limited has announced its going to be replacing its wooden crib elevator in Dauphin, Manitoba with a large high throughput grain handling facility.
The company says it will begin construction in April on a new Richardson Pioneer elevator with 10,000 metric tonnes of storage space to replace the 5,750 metric tonne elevator it acquired from Agricore United in 2007. The new facility will incorporate 15,000 metric tonnes of existing steel bin storage, which will be upgraded to match the receiving and shipping speed of the new build. The set-up includes a high capacity grain dryer, cleaner and 104-railcar spot.
“The Dauphin area is an important market for us and we have a solid, loyal customer base there,” said Darwin Sobkow, Richardson’s Executive Vice-President, Agribusiness Operations and Processing, in a news release. “This shows our long-term commitment to the area and ensures our ability to continue to serve our customers.”
The project is expected to take approximately 16 months, with completion in August 2016. Richardson will build a temporary receiving and shipping system at the Dauphin site to receive deliveries in the meantime.
