Ontario farmers who are accessing or have plans to access Growing Forward 2 funding have a new list of rules to learn. Of particular note, says Margaret May, regional program lead with Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA), intake dates have changed, as have the rules surrounding invoice dates, to highlight just a few changes.
Growing Forward 2 (GF2) offers cost-share funding assistance, and supports workshops and training for Ontario producers, processors, organizations and collaborations.
While there are some new hoops to get acquainted with, May says in the interview below, there’s also been some clarification and reworking of the program guides, which should make the process easier to understand and access.
All projects submitted within one of three intakes —May 1 to May 21; August 10 to August 27; and, November 16 to December 3, 2015 — will be assessed on a merit based system. May reminds growers that some project categories have prerequisites as a required condition before clients can apply, and that approval of your project is needed before costs can be incurred and paid.
Information sessions begin next week, starting on April 28, both in-person and via webex. For full details and locations, click on this PDF. For full program guides, click here.
