RealAgriculture received a handful of awards at the Canadian Farm Writers’ Federation Awards Banquet in Calgary on Saturday.
For the fourth year in a row, RealAgriculture.com was recognized in the website category, receiving the Henry Heald bronze award.
Kelvin Heppner and Debra Murphy received gold and silver awards in the radio/audio reporting class — the Tom Leach Award — for their pieces on price transparency in the wheat market and insect farming.
Beyond the Bushel episode 3, which looked at how the complexity of Canada’s wheat industry also creates marketing opportunities, was recognized with a silver award in the video category — the Jack McPherson Award (finishing in a tie for second behind a CTV national piece on XL Foods).
Former editor Lyndsey Smith also received the silver O.R. Evans award for her press editorial piece criticizing how the Ontario government handled communications on its new seed treatment regulations.
